More Waukee Residents Take Home Blue Ribbons in Iowa State Fair Contests
Waukee residents are bringing home the blue and red (ribbons, that is) in several State Fair contests.

They make jelly, they make quilts, they sculpt butter and they carve wood. Waukee may be a small town, but it’s full of hidden talent when it comes to the Iowa State Fair.
Jean Maurer of Waukee and teammate Jennifer Campbell of Clive comprised the Bu-Bu-Butter team in the Battle of the Butter competition, held Tuesday at the Iowa State Fair. Teams of two to four sculptors compete daily for a chance to have their butter sculpture on display alongside the 2011 Butter Cow.
The top woodworkers from across the state, including two from Waukee, squared off in the Wood Projects competition last week. The Wood Projects contest consists of two divisions, Woodcarving and Woodworking.
