Night Noise, Traffic Disruptions Coming to Hickman Road

The night noise was chosen over the heavy congestion that would occur with day construction, since Hickman Road is so heavily-used.

A construction project on U.S. 6, aka Hickman Road, will include nighttime lane closures between 7 p.m. and 6 a.m. starting Sunday in Waukee, Urbandale and Clive, the Des Moines Register reports.

The disruptions are scheduled to continue through Thursday, weather permitting.

The project will improve left-turn lanes.

The cities of Urbandale, Clive and Waukee would like to notify residents living near Hickman Road of the construction noise that will accompany this project, including concrete sawing, pavement breaking and general heavy equipment noise.

The night noise was chosen over the heavy congestion that would occur with day construction, since Hickman Road is so heavily-used.

Motorists are also reminded to drive with caution, obey posted speed limit and other signs in the work area, and be aware that traffic fines for moving violations are at least double in work zones.
