• Waukee introduces 2% franchise fee on utility bills (kcci.com) — Waukee residents will soon see a new 2% franchise fee added to their electric and natural gas bills, following the city’s sale of its gas system to MidAmerican Energy. City leaders say most households should still save about $200 a year overall, and emphasize the fee is meant to replace lost utility revenue rather than create new income.
