The Schade Creek Vineyard & Winery is supposed to be a venue for parties and events, say its owners. Until a dispute with the city is settled, most people will have to settle for a glimpse of the Waukee vineyard via photos.
Most people have no idea what goes on behind the gate at 1230 Warrior Lane.
That's where the resides. , the Waukee vineyard's future is somewhat uncertain.
"They're trying to force a property owner to agree to terms that are favorable only to the city," said Kurt Schade, owner of Schade Creek. "They want me to agree to give them that land which has grape vines on it, and they also want me to agree to pay an assessment for it."

Currently, Schade Creek is not allowed, by city ordinance, to host any activity or event on the property, something Schade says is the key to the vineyard and winery's success.
For that reason, the Schades gave Waukee Patch a glimpse inside this 13-acre destination in the heart of Waukee.
