Police Blotter Rewind: Buglary Attempt, OWI and Possession in Waukee

Attempted Burglary
On Oct. 1, a manager of the Westside Dance Academy, reported an attempted burglary to the business at 125 N.E. Dartmoor Dr.

The report said the manager found marks on the front door as if someone attempted to enter the business but was not able to get in.
There was no major damage reported.

OWI
Two people were charged with drunk driving in Waukee last week, according to the most recent police blotter.
Around 11 p.m. on Oct. 2, police arrested Matthew O'Brien of Urbandale in the 100 block of 156th Street. O'Brien, 36, was charged with operating while intoxicated. It was his first offense.
Nancy Duran of Des Moines was arrested at the intersection of Southeast University Avenue and Alice's Road around 6:30 p.m. on Oct. 6. Police charged Duran, 48, with operating while intoxicated, first offense.
Public Intoxication
A night out ended in a night in the slammer for one Waukee man last week.
Just before 8 p.m. on Oct. 5, Waukee police were called to the Sidetrack Pub at 292 W. Hickman Rd. Once there, they found 29 year-old Tyler Truesdell allegedly engaged in a verbal altercation outside the bar.
Truesdell, of Waukee, was arrested and charged with public intoxication. According to police reports, Truesdell was taken to jail.
Possession of a Controlled Substance
Just after midnight on Oct. 6, Waukee police found a vehicle parked in the parking lot at Waukee Elementary School. Officers said they detected the smell of marijuana coming from the car.
Inside, police found a 16-year-old boy from Waukee smoking pot. The juvenile was charged with possession of a controlled substance. His case will be referred to juvenile court.
