Sugar Creek Golf Pro Misses the Cut in John Deere Classic

Sugar Creek Golf Pro Chad Proehl missed the cut Friday in the John Deere Classic in Silvis, Ill. Play continues Sunday afternoon.

Chad Proehl, a golf pro at , is headed home after missing the cut in the John Deere Classic golf tournament in Silvis, Ill.

Proehl, 44, finished the tournament with a 143 that included a 69 on Friday.

In an article from the Des Moines Register online, Proehl said the experience of playing in his third professional golf event was invaluable.

“I’ve played in three of these, and I think I’m better equipped to handle it,” Proehl said. “I’m just a little more comfortable with it. I didn’t show it by the way I started both days. But I just love it out here.”

Proehl will play in his fourth pro tournament on July 30 in the Iowa Section PGA Championship in Ames.

Iowa's own Zach Johnson is currently tied for third place with golfer Brian Harman at 14 under par. Play resumes today at 2 p.m. The tournament is televised on KCCI.
