Shops on T Avenue at the Waukee Christian Church

Shop and dine at a unique arts and crafts market, bake shop, and café at the Waukee Christian Church beginning at 9 a.m. on Saturday. Some of the vendors items include vintage jewelry, designer doll clothes that fit American Girl dolls, personalized machine-embroidered gifts, beaded jewelry, fashionable handmade scarves, nuts, and jellies. PartyLite Ribbon-Cutting at the Waukee Area Chamber of Commerce

Join the Waukee Chamber to welcome Deena Anderson and PartyLite to the Waukee Area Chamber of Commerce on Saturday in the board room of the Waukee Area Chamber of Commerce office at 236 W. Hickman Rd. PartyLite candles and home accents are designed to work together to bring you everything you need to transform your home.

Aloft Gallery Holiday Open House

The Aloft Gallery is holding its annual Holiday Open House this weekend in the barn at LT Organic Farm, 32513 Ute Ave.

The Aloft Gallery will have Christmas items for sale along with door prizes, treats and artist demonstrations.

The Holiday Open House will be held Saturday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sunday from 1 to 4 p.m.

Monica Lee at the Waukee Public Library

Monica Lee will present her new book, “The Percussionist’s Wife: A Memoir of Sex, Crime & Betrayal” at the Waukee Public Library Saturday at 1:30 p.m.

"The Percussionist's Wife" gives a behind-the-scenes look inside a teacher sex scandal in Central Minnesota while exploring themes of fidelity, faith and justice. 

Relying on the criminal record and years of personal journals and photo albums, Lee weaves her perspective as the wife of the accused with the details of the police investigation to create a candid and riveting story of the demise of her marriage after revelations of adultery and criminal sexual conduct.

Books will be on sale at the Waukee Public Library prior to the discussion.

Waukee Theatre Arts Presents "Much Ado About Nothing"

The Waukee Theatre Arts program will present two shows today of William Shakespeare's "Much Ado About Nothing."

"Much Ado About Nothing" is a comedy and will run two shows today, one at 2 p.m. and another at 7 p.m., at the Theatre Arts Center at Prairieview School. Tickets are $8 for adults and $5 for students.

Roslyn Stone at ArtsCentral

The Waukee Area Arts Council will present vocal ensemble  Roslyn Stone Saturday at 7 p.m. at ArtsCentral.

Rosyln Stone is the budding and dynamic all-women vocal ensemble specializing in a dramatic blend of ancient and modern music through rich, powerful harmonizing. In addition to 9 gorgeous voices, the group features vocal percussion, guitar, lap dulcimer, and other guest instruments.

Tickets are $10 for adults, $5 for students and are available at Waukee Hardware or at the door the day of the show.

Pie in the Sky at Mickey's Irish Pub

Come out and listen to the sounds of Pie in the Sky at Mickey's Irish Pub Saturday at 9 p.m. There is no cover charge to attend.

Jingle Bell Run/Walk at Kosama Waukee

Come join in the fun of the Arthritis Foundation's Jingle Bell Run/Walk at Kosama Waukee Sunday beginning at 8 a.m. The run/walk event is a fundraiser raising awareness of arthritis.

Runners and walkers alike are encouraged to tie jingle bells to their shoelaces, don festive holiday costumes and join friends and neighbors in support of the Arthritis Foundation’s mission to prevent, control and cure arthritis and its related diseases.

This year's event includes a timed 5K run as well as a one-mile “Fun Run” and a 100-yard “Reindeer” Dash for children ages 3-10. Participants can either run as individuals or they can form teams.

Registration fees for the Jingle Bell Run/Walk events are as follows:

Breakout! Swim Clinic with Olympians Ian Crocker and Peter Vanderkaay at the Waukee Family YMCA

The Waukee Y Rays Swim Team will host the Mutual of Omaha Breakout! Swim Clinic, featuring Olympic swimmers Peter Vanderkaay and Ian Crocker on Sunday from 3-7 p.m. at the Waukee Family YMCA. Check-in time is 2:30 p.m.

Breakout! Swim Clinic is a total person approach to swimming and will build new skills and uncover hidden talents in each swimmer.

There is a limit of 100 swimmers (ages 8-18) for this clinic and the cost is $75 per person. For more information contact Eric Kress at 515.987.9996 or eric.kress@dmymca.org.
