Total Buzzkill: Party Ends Abruptly for Fifteen Alleged Underage Drinkers Charged in Waukee

Several 18- and 19-year-olds were charged with possession of alcohol under the legal age after police broke up a reported party in Waukee on June 20.

Fifteen people were arrested last week after Waukee police responded to a report of a party involving possible underage drinkers.

Around midnight on June 20, Waukee police received a call about a party in the 1400 block of Southeast Traden Drive. The caller said there were several people drinking outside the residence, many of whom looked to be younger than the legal drinking age of 21.

Once there, police charged 15 party-goers with possession of alcohol.

Among those arrested were: Cole Hanson, 19, of Waukee; Kathryn Cavanaugh, 18, of Urbandale; Michael French, 19, of West Des Moines; Bradley Duwe, 19, of Dubuque; Tommie Clark, 18, of Waukee; Samantha Daby, 18, of West Des Moines; Jonathan Getting, 19, of Waukee; Jacob Johnson, 20, of Clive; Brady Sinclair, 19, of Waukee; Mackenzie Peers, 18, of Urbandale; Matthew Roling, 19, of Clive; Samantha Duff, 19, of Urbandale; Anthony Vogel-Welchen, 18, of Waukee; and Adam Peterka, 19, of Valparaiso, Ind. These individuals were issued citations and released.

Additionally, Derek Shalkowski, 19, of West Des Moines was arrested and charged with minor in possession of alcohol and interference with official acts.
