Two Waukee Police Officers to be Honored for Heroic Efforts
Two Waukee police officers, who went beyond the call of duty by saving a woman from a house fire, will be recognized at a ceremony today at 12 p.m.
The public is invited to attend a ceremony recognizing two Waukee police officers who saved a Waukee woman from a house fire, May 22.
Officers William Daggett and Derrick Spoerry will be honored today at 12 p.m. at the Waukee Public Safety Building, 1300 S.E. LA Grant Pkwy. Waukee Mayor Bill Peard and the Waukee City Council will give special recognition to officers for their willingness to go beyond the call of duty to save a life.
On May 22, the two officers responded to a call of an explosion at a home at 775 Cherry St. Upon their arrival, officers Daggett and Spoerry entered the home and carried resident Tracy Petty-Conley to safety. She was unharmed.

In an earlier story on , Spoerry said the two were just doing their jobs.
"It feels extremely good knowing she’s alive," said Spoerry. "But that's our job. We would do it again in a heartbeat."
