There’s plenty to do in Waukee in the days ahead, and if you want to travel into to Des Moines and around the metro, there’s plenty to do there, too.

Waukee

2nd Annual Shuler Miner's Market

The Shuler Elementary PTO is hosting the second annual Shuler Miner's Market this Saturday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the gym and cafeteria at Shuler Elementary, 16400 Douglas Pkwy., in Clive. Admission is $2 for all attendees 18 and over, free for kids under 18; raffle tickets are $2 each, or 3 for $5.

Westview Fall Shopping Bonanza

Westview Church is hosting its first Fall Shopping Bonanza. There will bemore than 20 local vendors selling crafts, handmade goods, home businesses, free refreshments and more. The event goes from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at Westview Church, 1155 S.E. Boone Dr., Waukee. Admission is free.

4H Fundraiser Benefiting Meals for the Heartland

Stop out to Waukee Hardware Saturday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and support the 4H Fundraiser benefiting Meals for the Heartland. There will be a bake sale with lots of homemade goodies. Stick around for a free lunch provided by Waukee Hardware.

St. Boniface Church Fall Turkey Dinner

If you're looking for a good place for Sunday lunch, stop out to St. Boniface Catholic Church foe their annual Fall Turkey Dinner. Cost is $10 for adults and $5 for children ages 3-12. Ages 2 and under are free. This event includes a $500.00 cash raffle, basket raffle & bake sale. It begins at 11 a.m.

Night Eyes at the Blank Park Zoo

This Halloween tradition is a merry, not scary, event for the whole family at the
Blank Park Zoo, Des Moines. Hours are Friday, 5:30-8 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday, 1-8 p.m. Cost is $5 to attend.

25th Annual Family Halloween at Living History Farms

Horse-drawn wagon rides, marshmallow roasts, storytellers, scarecrow and jack-o-lantern displays delight all during this non-scary family event. Children aged 12 and under can trick or treat through town, and we'll have free pop and popcorn for all. Costumes are welcome and encouraged. The event will be held at Living History Farms in Urbandale. Hours are 5:30-8:30 p.m. Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Cost: $5/member; $6/non-member; under 2 years free.

Playhouse Halloween Party at the West End Architectural Salvage

The Des Moines Community Playhouse Hollywood Halloween costume party will benefit the Kate Goldman Children's Theatre and other educational programs conducted by the Playhouse. Guests will enjoy heavy hors d'oeuvres, hosted beer and wine and music by Final Mix at West End Architectural Salvage, Des Moines. The event is at 7:30 p.m. Friday. Tickets.  

Des Moines Symphony Masterworks

Symphonie Fantastique -- Des Moines Symphony Masterworks 2: Benny Kim performs Bruch’s Violin Concerto No. 1 - one of the violin repertoire’s most beautiful and beloved of all pieces. Plus, just in time for Halloween, experience Berlioz’s Symphonie Fantastique - a fanciful and vivid musical exploration of passion, tragedy and the supernatural at The Civic Center of Greater Des Moines. Showtimes are 7:30 p.m. Saturday and 2:30 p.m. Saturday. Tickets.

Hullaboo at The Iowa Arboretum

The Iowa Arboretum welcomes kids in costumes to join the parade of activities and treats, including hayrides, a hay maze, games, and pumpkin and scarecrow decorating. Iowa Arboretum, 1875 Peach Ave., Madrid. Hours are 2-4 p.m. Saturday. Admission is free.
