Waukee Area Arts Council Offers Summer Drama Camp
The Waukee Area Arts Council will hold a drama camp the week of July 9 for kids of all ages.

The will hold a week long drama camp for children ages pre-K through 12th grade.
The camp, schedule July 9 – 13, will include three different classes exploring the world of drama through theatre games, storytelling and acting. All classes will be held at at 405 Maple St.

Creative Drama

Come and explore the world of theatre through creative drama play. Â Students will read a different book each day, and will then create and perform an original play. Â
Grades: Pre-K - 2nd grade
Time: 9-11 a.m.
Class Size: 5-15
Cost: $85

The Stinky Cheese Man and Other Fairly Stupid Tales
Have you ever wondered if the fairy tales we were told as children were possibly incorrect? Â What if these stories were told from a different point of view? During this week long class, students will take Jon Scieszka's The Stinky Cheese Man and Other Fairly Stupid Tales, and will create an original play to be performed at the end of the week.
Grades: 3rd-7th grades
Time: 1-4 Â p.m.
Class Size: 5-15
Cost: $95

Teen Acting Studio
During the week-long class, teen students will have the opportunity to explore theatre performance, through monologue and scene work in a teen theatre acting studio.
Grades: 8th-12th grades
Time: 5-8 pm

Theatre Games for the Family
During this one-day workshop, Saturday, July 14, children and family members will learn about the theatre through games, performance, and other theatre activities. Students from the week will take the lead and serve as tour guides through the world of theatre but everyone is welcome.
Grades: All
Time: 9-noon
Class Size: 5 +
Cost: $15 per person or $30 Family

The Waukee Area Arts Council hires only certified teachers to conduct classes. Brochures/registration forms can be downloaded at www.WaukeeArts.org, picked up at the Waukee Hardware or call (515) 402-7870 for one to be mailed to you. Minimum class size must be met for class to be held. Deadline for registration is Friday, June 22, 2012.
