Waukee Food Pantry Conducts School Supply Drive
The Waukee Area Christian Food Pantry is in need of school supplies for families with school age children.

The Waukee Area Christian Food Pantry is once again collecting school supplies for its annual back-to-school school supply drive.
This is the fourth year the Food Pantry has conducted such a drive. Last year alone, they were able to help out more than 100 students in the Waukee school district with new school supplies.
Annette Bures, a board member with the, said the need for school supplies continues to grow every year.

"The need is always there," she said. "We've been seeing more patrons this summer than in the past and each year it just continues to grow. With that, the lists and the needs grow too."
Bures said any donation to the school supply drive is appreciated but this year, things like crayons and glue sticks are aplenty while the more obscure items like binders, flash drives, and tissues are in short supply.

"We have an abundance of crayons and glue sticks right now," said Bures. "It's the items that are a little different that we need more of. But whatever people can do to help would be great."
The program serves all grade levels though Bures said a majority of those in need tend to be at the elementary level.
If you're interested in donating, the Waukee Area Christian Services Food Pantry is now accepting donations. All items can be dropped off to the Pantry at 1155 S.E. Boone Dr. between the hours of 4-6 on Monday and again from 9-11 on Thursday.
If you would like to make a monetary donation, mail it to WACS, 1155 S.E. Boone Dr., Waukee, IA 50263.
Donations will be accepted until July 31. The school supplies will be distributed the week of Aug. 6.
