Waukee Patch: The Week in Review
In case you missed something, here's a recap of the news and events from Waukee Patch for the week of August 8-14.

1) On Monday, we introduced a new feature called Parents Talk. It's a weekly feature that poses a parenting question and is open for comments from other parents. We will have a new question each week and would love to hear from parents whether it's an answer or a question of their own.
2) On Tuesday, we met Melinda Behn, executive director of the Waukee Chamber of Commerce. Her energy for the job is undeniable and she's a huge cheerleader for the city of Waukee.
4) On Wednesday, we met women from Waukee who sell their art and handmade goods on Etsy. Their talent is amazing and goods, for sale.

5) Thursday, you may have heard the news that the Waukee Board of Education approved a land purchase in West Des Moines' Michael's Landing that will be home to the seventh elementary school in the district. It's expected to be open in time for the 2013-2014 school year.
6) On Saturday, Patch brought you full coverage of the Straw Poll in Ames. Minnesota Congresswoman Michele Bachmann was the big winner with Ron Paul finishing second.

7) On Sunday, Tim Pawlenty, the third place finisher in the Ames Straw Poll withdrew from the race to the White House.
