Waukee Public Library to Host Author Monica Lee, Nov. 10
Illimois author Monica Lee will be at the Waukee Public Library on Nov. 10 to talk about her new book, "The Percussionist's Wife: A Memoir of Sex, Crime & Betrayal."

Illinois author Monica Lee appears Nov. 10 at Waukee Public Library.
Her new book “The Percussionist’s Wife: A Memoir of Sex, Crime & Betrayal” gives a behind-the-scenes look inside a teacher sex scandal in Central Minnesota while exploring themes of fidelity, faith and justice. The memoir tells the true story of the firing and prosecution of a high school drum line instructor and the collateral damage to their marriage.
"This sort of thing happens all too often, and few who have lived through it have the courage to write about it," said Arlene Lynes, owner of Read Between the Lynes in Woodstock, Ill., where Lee appeared in October. "Monica writes honestly and well about tragedy and redemption."

Relying on the criminal record and years of personal journals and photo albums, Lee weaves her perspective as the wife of the accused with the details of the police investigation to create a candid and riveting story of the demise of her marriage after revelations of adultery and criminal sexual conduct.
Lee will be speaking about writing and her memoir at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 10 at Waukee Public Library, 950 Warrior Lane, Waukee, Iowa.
