UPDATE: Jake Knott Named Big 12 Defensive Player of the Week; Surgery Puts Him Out for the Season
For the second time this season, Waukee alum and Iowa State University senior Jake Knott was named the Big 12 Defensive Player of the Week.

UPDATE (11:40 a.m.): Paul Rhoads, coach of the Iowa State Cyclone football team has announced that Jake Knott will be out for the rest of the season. He's due to have surgery in Chicago today due to a shoulder injury.
According to Tweets from @CycloneFB:
- Rhoads on Knott's legacy "A young man who really helped jump start this era of Cyclone football."
- Rhoads says Knott always put the Cyclone football team first. It was never about Jake Knott.
- Rhoads does not rule out the possibility of Knott being able to play in a possible bowl game.
- Rhoads says winning third Big 12 game and becoming bowl eligible is what is most important Saturday.

Knott, a Waukee High School alum and Iowa State linebacker, was named the Big 12's Defensive Player of the Week. It's the second time this season and the third time in his career that Knott has been given the honor.
Knott had 11 tackles in the showdown against the Baylor Bears on Saturday. This was Knott's 19th career game where he had 10 or more tackles. The Cyclones won the game, 35-21.

Knott, a 2009 graduate of Waukee High School, is a senior management major at Iowa State University. Knott is the son of Laura and Tim Knott.
The Cyclones will face No. 12 Oklahoma in Ames this Saturday, Nov. 3, at 11 a.m.
