Waukee School Board Approves Design of Timberline School

Preliminary design plans have been approved for the Timberline School, the district's newest 8/9 building, expected to be open in 2015.

At the Oct. 22 meeting of the Waukee Board of Education, board members unanimously approved preliminary plans for the Timberline School, the district's newest 8/9 building, expected to be open for the 2015-16 school year.

While ground has yet to be broken on the building southwest of South Middle School on L.A. Grant Parkway, the process is now in motion with the approval of the schematic design.

The architecture firm of Frevert Ramsey Kobes is heading up the project and hopes to have completed the next stage of design development ready by the Nov. 26 meeting of the Waukee school board.

Estimated cost for the project is $25 million and would be paid for using SILO funds. The district hopes to break ground this fall. The project is expected to be complete by July 2015.

Once open, Timberline would return the district to the PK-5, 6-7, 8-9, 10-12 configuration it has had in past years. The building itself will hold up to 1,000 students.
