Waukee Swimmers Clean Up at State Meet; Maddie Gehrke is State Champion in 50 Free
The Waukee High School girls swim team posted a strong finish to the season at the Iowa Girls High School Sate Swimming and Diving Meet in Marshalltown, Nov. 2 & 3.
The Waukee High School girls swim team finished out the 2012-13 season with a strong showing at the 2012 Iowa Girls High School State Swimming and Diving meet in Marshalltown, Nov. 2 & 3.
Waukee had four top 10 finishes including sophomore Maddie Gehrke who is the state champion in the 50 free with a time of 23.34 making her an automatic All-American Swimmer.
Other highlights include Gehrke’s 3rd place finish in the 100 fly with a personal best of 56.24; junior Jenny Brown's 5th place finish in the 500 free with a season best of 5:15.29; and a 7th place finish from the 400 free relay team of Gehrke, Brown, freshman Camryn Somers and sophomore Ellie Blazenko to end the meet with a new school record of 3:37.94

State Qualifiers included: Camryn Somers (9), Maddie Gehrke (10), Ellie Blazenko (10), Emma Georgeff (10), Emma Gerdis (10), Jenny Brown (11), Maddie McCormick (11), Tori Bussanmas (11), and Limay Vong – diver (12).
