Waukee to Hire Search Firm to Fill City Administrator Job

Waukee city officials are considering five different search forms as they begin looking for the next city administrator.

City officials are considering a recruiting firm to help find Waukee's next city administrator.

At its meeting Aug. 6, the city's personnel committee reviewed proposals from five different search firms including one in central Iowa.

Proposals from Springsted Inc., Slavin Management Consultants, The Mercer Group Inc., and Voorhees & Associates are all under consideration.  HR-OneSource and Moulder and Associates filed a joint proposal. Both firms are based in the Des Moines area.

According to a story from the Des Moines Register online, the personnel committee will pare the choices down to two with the Waukee City Council making the final choice.

“We’re going to go through those five firms to figure out which two best fit our needs,” said Waukee Mayor Bill Peard. “We would certainly maybe even modify that proposal potentially, too.”

The estimated cost of hiring a search firm, based on the submitted prposals, ranges from $10,000 to $19,400.

, Waukee's former city administrator, resigned his position in May. Brad Deets was named interim city administrator.
