Creative Arts Contest
The Creative Arts contests were judged prior to the start of the 2012 Iowa State Fair.
Entries are on display throughout the Fair in the Patty and Jim Cownie Cultural Center, open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.

- Karen Pavlik, first place, Other Creative Arts and Crafts - Decorated Wreath or Swag
- Virginia Stone, second place, Tole and Decorative Painting - Pastels; second place - Technique Not Mentioned
Midwest Living Cookies Competition

The Midwest Living Cookies Competition was held Wednesday and Thursday as part of the 2012 Iowa State Fair Foods Department judging.
Waukee participants include:
- Katherine Kilkenny, first place, Two Layer Bars
- Daphane Trevillyan, third place, Butterscotch Oatmeal; second place, No-Bake; first place, Coconut Meringue; third place, Double Chocolate Oatmeal/Peanut Butter
- Sharon Krause, first place, Chocolate Drop
Wood Projects Competition
The Wood Projects competition was judged prior to the start of the 2012 Iowa State Fair.
The Wood Projects contest consists of two divisions: Woodcarving and Woodworking. Entries are on display throughout the Fair in the Patty and Jim Cownie Cultural Center, open 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.

- Mel Slaybaugh, third place, Furniture Item
