Weather Alert: Dallas County

The National Weather Service has issued an alert for Dallas County including the city of Waukee.

The National Weather Service has issued a hazardous weather outlook for Dallas County that includes the city of Waukee. The advisory went into effect Monday night at 10:05 p.m. and will last through Sunday.

Today is expected to be hot and sunny with temperatures near 100 degrees. Tomorrow will be another hot one with temperatures nearing 98. Also Wednesday, there's a 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly after 1 p.m.

This week through Friday, heat indices of 100 to 105 degrees are expected in the afternoon.

Stay Cool

With temperatures soaring to 100 degrees, the city of Waukee has designated the Waukee Public Safety Building at 1300 L.A. Grant Pkwy as the primary cooling center for Waukee residents.

The cooling center will be made available to anyone needing relief from the heat. The cooling center will be open everyday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

For after hours concerns, residents are asked to call the Waukee Police Department at (515) 993-4567 for assistance.
