Friday

Waukee vs. Mason City

Waukee's 9th Grade Volleyball Inviational

Waukee's 9th grade volleyball team will host an invitational meet Saturday beginning at 9 a.m. at in Waukee. Teams from Ankeny, Ballard, Dowling Catholic, Grandview Park Baptist, PCM, Des Moines Roosevelt, Saydel Community Schools, and West Des Moines Valley will all compete.

Kids Art Class: Mini Monets at Aloft Gallery

Come out to the Saturday at 1 p.m. for a kids art class for children ages 7 and up. The little artists will learn about Monet's water lilies and will make their own Monet painting onto shrink plastic. After baking, they'll see how the colors condense. These can then be made into necklaces or keychains.  Parents are asked to call (515) 720-4987 to register. Cost for the class is $20.

Lego Club at the Waukee Public Library

Come out to the at 1:30 p.m. to emerse yourself in the land of Legos. Kids (and adults) of all ages can come to the library to build, play and imagine a world built with tiny plastic blocks. The activity is free and goes from 1:30-3 p.m. Saturday.

Throwing Toast at Mickey's Irish Pub

Come out and listen to the sounds of Throwing Toast at Saturday at 9 p.m. There is no cover charge to attend.

Sunday

"Save the Trails!" Bike Ride

is sponsoring the charity bike ride on Sunday to raise money to pave the gravel road crossings on the Raccoon River Valley Trail. 

Registration begins at 10 a.m. Sunday and costs $25. Your registration fee includes a breakfast burrito, a safety vest and drink specials. Raffle tickets to win a new bike are $25.

The 16-mile ride will begin at Mickey's and will head toward The Longest Yard in Dallas Center and circle back to Waukee where a post-ride party will be held at Mickey's Irish Pub.

All proceeds from the day's event will benefit the Raccoon River Valley Trail paving project.
