Work Begins on Waukee's Fiber Optic Traffic Signal System

The Iowa Department and the city of Waukee will begin work this week on the city's fiber optic traffic signal program.

The Iowa Department of Transportation is working on the city of Waukee's fiber optic network traffic signal system this week.

The purpose of this project is to install fiber optic cable within the city of Waukee to connect all traffic signals and city buildings. The project includes installation of conduit, fiber optic cable, communication equipment, fiber optic hub cabinets, and city traffic signal network software.

The project is located along University Avenue, Hickman Road, Sixth Street, Warrior Lane, LA Grant Parkway, and Alice's Road. The anticipated completion date for this project is the end of September.
