London 2012 Olympics Closing Ceremony Schedule: Thoughts on Gabby Douglas and Lolo Jones

The Olympics closing ceremony is on Sunday.

The London 2012 Olympics are winding down. A few more events are left to go, and then the closing ceremonies from Olympic Stadium on Sunday.

Those will be aired from 6 to 8 p.m. (CST) on Sunday on your local NBC station, according to the network

All in all, this has been a fun Olympics for Iowans.

We've had Gabby "the Flying Squirrel" Douglas and her two gold medals. If you've been under a rock, Gabby is from Virginia, but most recently trained in West Des Moines. Gabby has been one of the stars of the 2012 Olympics.

That exposure has come with media and online scrutiny, and a debate her hairstyle. One letter to the editor asks why that even matters.

The Des Moines Register reported that Gabby will attend the closing ceremonies, but there is some mystery surrounding that. There is a story today from the Sydney Morning Herald suggesting Gabby Douglas won't hang around for the ceremony.

Meanwhile, most of the chatter surrounding the closing ceremony has been surrounding which musical acts will be on hand. George Michael, Paul McCartney, the Who and Spice Girls are some of the names being floated. There isn't an official lineup just yet.
