📰 News we're reading
• Some communities keep trans civil rights rules despite Iowa law change (desmoinesregister.com subscription) — West Des Moines is one of several Iowa cities that still list gender identity as a protected class in local civil rights ordinances, even after the state removed those protections this year. Local and state advocates describe a legally uncertain but important effort by cities and counties to shield transgender residents from discrimination. Lawmakers could still move to limit these local protections in future sessions.
