Meet A Future Leader In West Des Moines: Luke Wittrock
Patch and T-Mobile have partnered to highlight young people achieving great things in our community.

The future of West Des Moines is looking bright, thanks to the incredible young people working to strengthen our community. In partnership with T-Mobile, Patch is proud to spotlight future leaders like Luke Wittrock, who are making a positive impact in and around West Des Moines.
Luke is a current senior at Valley High School (Class of 2025) and has earned recognition for his academic excellence. He is a 2025 Coca-Cola Scholar Semifinalist, placing him among the top 1,336 students nationwide—and 21 in Iowa—out of over 105,000 applicants. This prestigious program honors students for their academic excellence, leadership, and community service, and semifinalists are now in contention for one of 150 $20,000 college scholarships. Luke is also one of 11 VHS National Merit Scholarship semifinalists this year, further showcasing his exceptional academic achievements.
Beyond his accolades, Luke is making a tangible impact on his community. In 2023, he founded the Central Iowa Youth Business Incubator, a program designed to teach high school students entrepreneurial skills and provide them with opportunities to sell their products at local farmers' markets. His dedication to fostering innovation and leadership among his peers underscores his commitment to empowering others and creating positive change.
