The most popular majors are nursing, criminal justice, medical assistant, information technology and business administration, said Lori Gelhaar, Kaplan director of career services.

Kaplan caters to working students and those seeking distance learning opportunities as they further their education.

One popular program is an introductory period with no tuition obligation, which is known as our Kaplan Commitment Program, Gelhaar said.

"We believe if we’re not right for you then you shouldn’t be financially obligated to us," Gelhaar said.

Kaplan, which is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission and a member of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools, enrolls 38,949 students.
