West Des Moines: Enjoy January Thaw Part Deux this Week, As Cold Air is Around the Corner
Sure you'll get a three day weekend, but that doesn't mean you'll want to go outside.

Get some good outdoors time in this week, as next week looks like it might take a turn for the worst.
The forecast for the area from the National Weather Service in Des Moines indicates that starting today, highs in the West Des Moines area will be in the upper 30s, 40s and even near 50 on Friday.
But once again, don't get out those shorts too soon, as beginning Sunday the temperatures will get colder as a front rolls in, potentially dropping a little snow but mosty just bringing cold, with high temperatures on Martin Luther King Jr. Day dropping to 10, with blustery winds that will make it feel well below zero. Actual low temperatures Monday night are expected around zero to five degrees below zero.

If you're a skating or ice fishing fan, this should be good news, as while it should warm up a bit next week as the week goes on, it looks as if it will remain below freezing all week.Β
