• Two hurt in Turnpike wreck southwest of Emporia (kvoe.com) — A Tuesday morning crash on the Kansas Turnpike just southwest of the Emporia tollgate sent two out-of-state travelers to Newman Regional Health with possible injuries. The southbound wreck near the Lyon-Chase county line briefly disrupted traffic but left the Emporia-area driver unhurt, with all involved wearing seatbelts.
   

• Retiring Emporia State president donating the last four years of his salary back to the university (ljworld.com) — Emporia residents will see a major boost in Emporia State scholarships and student aid after retiring ESU president and Emporia native Ken Hush pledged the equivalent of his last four years of salary back to the university. His donation will fund scholarships, recruitment, and cost-cutting initiatives, following a controversial tenure marked by deep faculty cuts, frozen tuition, and a recent rebound in enrollment and finances.
