Great Bend police make arrests related to drugs, domestic violence (greatbendpost.com) โ Police in Great Bend made two recent arrests tied to drugs and a reported domestic assault, both originating at city addresses. Officers say meth and paraphernalia were found in one home, and in another case a woman reported being threatened with a knife, with both suspects booked into Barton County Jail.

3. Great Bend City Council approves new pool concept, design contract with JEO (greatbendpost.com) โ Great Bend residents can expect a brand-new city pool at Brit Spaugh Park, with design work starting in early 2026 and opening targeted for the 2027 swim season. The City Council approved a $705,000 design contract and a $9.155 million project funded by the quality-of-life sales tax, including a lazy river, tall slides, diving boards, and upgraded play features.

LHS Girls 8th of 33 at Great Bend (kscbnews.net) โ A major girls wrestling tournament in Great Bend saw Liberal High School finish 8th out of 33 teams at the Christmas Clash, with several wrestlers placing and showing steady improvement. The boys squad also grabbed 8th at the Colby Eagle Invitational. Both teams now turn back to practice to sharpen skills for the rest of the season.
