• Rural firefighters are recognized during a banquet (jcpost.com) — Geary County’s rural firefighters, who help protect Junction City-area homes and farms, were honored at their annual banquet with top awards for Lt. Timothy Dokken, Galen Hansen, and volunteer Wally Mitchell. Commissioners praised the department’s growing call volume, major grant funding for Grandview Plaza and Milford, and expanded training, while families enjoyed a visit from Santa at the 4-H/Senior Center. 
• 🤼♂️🤼♀️ Salthawk wrestlers post strong varsity performances at Colby, Great Bend (hutchpost.com) — Hutchinson High’s wrestlers recently faced familiar competition they’d just seen at the Junction City Blue Jay Duals, where they had edged Hays before falling to them this weekend at Colby. The boys still finished fourth with several standout individual records, while the girls’ squad gained valuable experience and top-10 finishes at the Great Bend Christmas Clash as both teams build toward the rest of the season.
