• New Stanley school to remain open under modified plan (thebeaconnews.org) — New Stanley Elementary in Kansas City will stay open for now after the school board revised its boundary and building plan in response to strong community pushback. The approved changes still redraw attendance zones, adjust feeder patterns, and add three new school buildings by 2027–28, aiming to relieve overcrowding at several KCK schools while leaving New Stanley’s future open to further debate.

• Demonstrators rally against Wyandotte County DA over dismissed child rape case (kmbc.com) — Protesters gathered outside the Wyandotte County Courthouse in Kansas City to condemn the dismissal of a child sex abuse case and criticize District Attorney Mark Dupree. While they demonstrated, a judge revoked the defendant’s probation in a related domestic violence case, meaning he’ll serve prison time but could still be released in a few months.
   

• KCKPD officers identify 'possible hate crime' at Grace Tabernacle Church (kshb.com) — Kansas City police are investigating graffiti at Grace Tabernacle Church as a possible hate crime, working with federal partners to review the incident. Residents with information can contact local police or share anonymous tips through Greater Kansas City Crime Stoppers, which may offer cash rewards for helpful leads.
