Lawrence police search for driver who crashed into porch (kmbc.com) — Several people were hurt late Tuesday when a car ran a stop sign at Ninth and Missouri in Lawrence hit a van, and then slammed into a home’s porch. The driver ran off and hasn’t been found, though police used a drone to search overnight. The passenger and two people in the van were hospitalized, but no one inside the home was injured.

Lawrence police looking for driver who crashed into van and house, leaving 3 injured (ljworld.com) — Lawrence police are still searching for a driver who allegedly ran a stop sign at Ninth and Missouri late Tuesday, hit a van and then crashed into a house before fleeing on foot. Three people were hospitalized, including the car’s passenger with severe injuries, but the homeowner was away at the time. Officers even used a drone overnight but have not yet found the driver.
3. Debris found at scene where KU student was struck, killed led police to suspect (kshb.com) — Investigators in Lawrence say vehicle debris and camera footage helped them identify a suspect in the November hit-and-run that killed KU student Elsa McGrain near E 1500 Road. A Lawrence man now faces multiple charges tied to the fatal crash and prior driving offenses, while Douglas County prosecutors outline potential prison time and stress road safety accountability.
4. Douglas County commissioners approve the purchase of land next to Lone Star Lake Park (ljworld.com) — Douglas County commissioners have approved buying 23 acres next to Lone Star Lake Park, aiming to boost public access, conservation and water quality using remaining federal rescue funds. They also signed a new long-term lease with the City of Lawrence for the Senior Resource Center at 749 Kentucky St. and updated the county’s heritage grant program, which will fund local conservation projects in 2026.
5. Photos: KU holds traditional holiday shopping excursion (kusports.com) — Lawrence shoppers at the Iowa Street Walmart may have spotted KU men’s basketball players Wednesday night as they continued their long-running holiday tradition of buying gifts for local families in need. Using set budgets and wish lists, players, coaches and longtime organizers Roger and Linda Morningstar focused on giving back during finals week before the Jayhawks head to N.C. State.
