Man held on $300,000 bond in Riley County Jail after indecent liberties arrest (wibw.com) — A man was arrested in Manhattan on Seth Child Road and is being held in the Riley County Jail on a $300,000 bond in connection with aggravated indecent liberties with a child. Police say the charges stem from a July report, and due to the nature of the case, they aren’t releasing further details.

MHS boys outlast Shawnee Heights to extend win streak (themercury.com) — Manhattan High’s boys basketball team heads into winter break on a five-game winning streak after edging Shawnee Heights 56–54, powered by a 27-point night from guard Will Carpenter. The Indians erased an eight-point deficit late, leaned on key defensive stops, and now look to carry that momentum into their Jan. 6 road game at Hays.

4. 17 students named Chancellor's Scholars (unl.edu) — A University of Nebraska–Lincoln student from Manhattan Avery Koeneke, is among 17 seniors being honored as Chancellor’s Scholars for maintaining a perfect 4.0 GPA. The recognition will take place at the Dec. 20 undergraduate commencement, highlighting top academic achievers from Nebraska and several other states.
