• Shawnee's Midland Drive project set to begin early next year — Here's the latest (johnsoncountypost.com) — Shawnee’s long-discussed Midland Drive overhaul between Shawnee Mission Parkway and I-435 is set to start construction in March 2026, bringing new lanes, sidewalks, and bike lanes but also intermittent closures and at least one full shutdown. City staff are already relocating utilities and warning nearby residents and Midland entertainment district businesses to expect disruptions, while emphasizing the project’s long-term safety, connectivity, and park access benefits.
