  1. The downtown Topeka post office closed last week without warning. On Friday morning, office employees received notice that they should pack their things and let affected residents know about the closure. In the letter sent to residents, the post office claims that the building is "suspended" due to remodeling by the new landlord and asbestos renovations. However, the new landlord claims not to have known about the closure. (KSNT News)
  2. Die-hard fans have created a Facebook group to help save the motorsports park. The group, titled "Save Motorsports Park Topeka!!!" already has 150 members focused on demonstrating the large community interest in keeping the park. Last week, Heartland Park owner Chris Payne claimed he intends to close the park if he loses a years-long tax battle against Shawnee County. (The Topeka Capital-Journal)
  3. Seven Topeka seniors have been awarded competitive scholarships for their dedication to academics, financial need, and display of Catholic faith. The seniors will each receive part of the $45,000 gift from the Hayden Foundation, affiliated with the Topeka Catholic Parish. The list of seniors can be found at the link. (KSNT News)
