  1. The Kansas Children’s Discovery Center broke its spring-break attendance record with 7,461 visitors coming to the museum from Mar. 10 through 18. The record was attributed to several factors, including the nationally traveling “Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood: A Grr-ific Exhibit,” which is based on the PBS KIDS television series. More than a third of the visitors came from outside Shawnee County, and the museum offered free admission nights and programming for children with autism or special sensory needs. (WIBW)
  2. This June, the Topeka Fire Department will hold its fourth annual Camp Courage event, which aims to inspire girls aged 14 to 20 to consider firefighting as a career. The one-week camp provides hands-on experience with real-world firefighter activities such as deploying fire hoses, search and rescue, and basic first aid. The program, which has a one-on-one instructor-to-student ratio, is free to attend but is physically demanding. Applications for the event open on Apr. 1 at 10:00 a.m., and it will be held from Jun. 5 to 9. (KSNT News)
  3. The Topeka police have identified a 2-year-old girl who was killed in a car crash on Mar. 21 near the intersection of 31st St. and Southeast California Ave. According to Rosie Nichols with the City of Topeka, the victim was identified as Ximena Perez. The police have contacted all parties involved in the incident, but no arrests have been made so far. The police will present their findings to the District Attorney's Office once the investigation is complete for further consideration. (KSNT News)
