Sweet Send-Off: Racer Dining's Live Action Station at Murray State

On the morning of the Senior Breakfast, the aroma of freshly baked donuts filled the air, creating a festive atmosphere.

As the school year drew to a close, the Racer Dining team at Murray State University wanted to give the senior class a memorable send-off. Last year's idea of donut shooters with flavor-filled mini pipettes had been popular, but this year, they aimed for something even more engaging and interactive.

"We wanted to create an experience that wasn't just delicious but also allowed us to connect with the students," shared Meagan Hart, Marketing Manager for Racer Dining. This desire for engagement led to the creation of a live action donut station.

The planning began weeks in advance, focusing on flavor options, station layout, and execution plans. Racer Dining's team was determined to balance variety and efficiency to ensure a smooth, enjoyable experience for everyone. "We had to offer enough choices to excite the students while keeping the line moving," explained Hart.

On the morning of the Senior Breakfast, the aroma of freshly baked donuts filled the air, creating a festive atmosphere. As students lined up, they were greeted with the sight of donuts being tossed with their choice of flavors on the spot. Cinnamon sugar and strawberry with powdered sugar quickly became crowd favorites.

"The reactions were priceless," recalled Hart. Students' exclamations of "no way, we get to pick our flavors" and "how cool is this" resonated throughout the venue, adding to the celebratory mood. The interactive station allowed students to personalize their donuts, making the experience even more special.

Faculty and staff were equally impressed, praising the innovative approach. "We love seeing you try new things like this for the students," remarked one staff member, capturing the event's spirit. The live action donut station not only delighted students but also showcased Racer Dining's commitment to creating memorable experiences.

Inspired by the event's success, the team pitched the live action donut station concept to a client for a catering event, receiving enthusiastic approval. "It's amazing how a simple idea can create such excitement,” said Hart.

The event also provided valuable lessons for the future. "Caramel is sticky," joked one team member, noting the practical challenges they encountered. They learned that thinner sauces would be better for tossing with the donuts, ensuring a smoother process for both staff and students in future events.

Racer Dining's live action donut station created lasting memories for the senior class, ensuring their final days at Murray State were filled with joy and sweet success.
