Berea residents will see new 911 emergency service fee on water bills starting in January (lex18.com) — Berea residents will soon see a new 911 emergency service fee added to their water bills starting with payments due January 10, 2026. The city says all funds will support Madison County’s 911 center, with residential customers paying $3.50 per unit and higher rates for commercial and industrial meters.
   

2. From the classroom to the community: Berea students partner with food bank to restock school pantry (fox56news.com) — Berea Community School students just helped restock their own emergency food pantry by partnering with the Berea Food Bank and loading more than 100 cases of food. Organized through the JAG program, the effort supports local families who rely on school meals, especially over winter break, while giving students hands-on experience in leadership and community service.
   

3. Beshear will unveil plan for dealing with Kentucky revenue shortfall later this week (newsfromthestates.com) — A Berea-based economic policy group is weighing in as Gov. Andy Beshear prepares to announce how Kentucky will handle a projected $156 million revenue shortfall this week. Economists now expect sluggish state revenue growth through 2028, while lawmakers debate whether to keep cutting income taxes or protect funding for schools and services that affect communities like Berea.
   

4. Leadership Kentucky celebrates graduation of Class of 2025, including six from Northern Kentucky (nkytribune.com) — Leadership Kentucky’s Class of 2025 spent one of its seven sessions in Berea, bringing emerging leaders here as part of a statewide tour from Pikeville to Paducah and beyond. The program just graduated 52 participants and honored nonprofit leader Darren Dannelly, while opening nominations soon for the 2026 class that will again explore communities like Berea.
