'It's a blessing': Secret Santa pays Christmas layaways at Somerset Roses (lex18.com) — Families using layaway at the Roses store in Somerset just got a big surprise: an anonymous “Secret Santa” quietly paid off more than $2,500 in remaining Christmas balances. One local father of six says the unexpected help turned a stressful holiday season into a blessing, easing the cost of gifts and clothing for his young children.
   

2. Christmas classic 'The Nutcracker' returns to the Lexington Opera House (lex18.com) — Somerset residents just packed the house for Kentucky Ballet Theatre’s Nutcracker performances, and now the beloved Christmas classic is heading to the Lexington Opera House. Artistic Director Norbe Risco says the production, featuring about 70 dancers, keeps familiar choreography but adds fresh touches each year, with shows scheduled December 13, 14, 20, and 21.
   

3. Pulaski County Man Arrested for DUI Following Traffic Stop on Parker Road West of London, Kentucky (clayconews.com) — A Somerset man was arrested after Laurel County deputies say they stopped his Cadillac for weaving and expired registration west of London, then determined he was under the influence. The Pulaski County resident faces multiple traffic, registration, and insurance-related charges but was released on his own recognizance the next morning.
   

4. Jeff Reed steps down as music director of Orchestra Kentucky - WNKY News 40 Television (wnky.com) — Somerset audiences are part of the legacy as Orchestra Kentucky’s longtime music director Jeff Reed prepares to step down after the 2026-27 season. Reed, who helped grow the Bowling Green-based orchestra into a statewide presence with concerts in Somerset and beyond, says he’s ready to enjoy performances from the audience while a new director is sought to elevate the group further.
