Congressman-elect Luke Letlow announced over Twitter Friday that he has contracted COVID-19.

Congressman-elect Luke Letlow announced over Twitter Friday that he has contracted COVID-19.
Letlow, 40, said he is at his home in Start, La., and following quarantine guidelines outlined by the Centers for Disease Control. He has been elected to represent Louisiana’s 5th district — which encompasses Monroe, Alexandria, Ruston and parts of the Florida parishes.

The Republican will replace retiring Rep. Ralph Abraham in January. His political consultant could not be reached for comment.
Congressman Cedric Richmond, of New Orleans, and Lt. Gov. Billy Nungesser also announced this week that they have COVID-19. Both are experiencing symptoms.
Congressman Mike Johnson, U.S. Sen. Bill Cassidy, Attorney General Jeff Landry, State Treasurer John Schroder and a number of state lawmakers have also had COVID-19 over the past several months and recovered. One Louisiana elected official, state Rep. Reggie Bagala, died from the virus in April.
