Alexandria apartments \u200bfor rent saw slight price increases since last November (thetowntalk.com) — Apartment rents in Alexandria have inched up over the past year, with the typical unit listing for $960 in November, up from $936 last year. One-bedroom prices jumped especially sharply, though overall local rents remain well below both Louisiana and national medians, offering some relative affordability even as costs rise. 
2. IHOP, Logan's among restaurants that closed in 2025 in Rapides Parish (thetowntalk.com) — Several well-known Alexandria restaurants along MacArthur Drive closed in 2025, including Logan’s Roadhouse, El Paso Mexican Grill and the area’s only IHOP, leaving prominent buildings vacant. Johnny Carino’s also shut its doors, but Olive Garden is slated to open in that spot in January, and El Paso is rebuilding nearby on Versailles Boulevard, reshaping local dining options.
3. Alexandria shooting on Tennessee Avenue results in arrest for second-degree murder (cenlanow.com) — A man has been arrested on a second-degree murder charge after a fatal shooting late Friday night on Tennessee Avenue in Alexandria, where a 32-year-old victim later died at a local hospital. Alexandria Police are still investigating and are asking anyone with information to contact detectives or Crime Stoppers, with anonymous tips eligible for a cash reward.
4. APD: Man injured in self-defense shooting on Marthas Drive in Alexandria (kalb.com) — Alexandria police say a delivery driver shot and injured a man on Marthas Drive in what investigators currently consider self-defense, after the man allegedly jumped into his truck threateningly. APD believes the incident may be retaliation tied to a November home invasion on Henry Street in which the same resident fatally shot an intruder. The case remains under investigation, and no charges have been filed against the driver.
5. LSU Alexandria men's basketball falls to Texas A&M-Texarkana in overtime battle (cenlanow.com) — LSUA men’s basketball dropped a 99–90 overtime heartbreaker at home in Alexandria despite a huge 40-point night from guard EJ McQuillan. The Generals tied the game late to force overtime but couldn’t pull ahead, and now turn their focus to upcoming matchups with Jarvis Christian University and Texas College to close out the calendar year.
