After visiting the Baton Rouge SSA office, he still hasn’t been told how the error happened or when payments will resume, leaving him scrambling to cover automatically drafted bills while he waits for answers.
   

2. Road work planned from downtown to LSU, and along Bluebonnet, over next year (wbrz.com) — Expect significant lane closures and delays over the next year as Baton Rouge launches a $3.1 million asphalt overlay project on Highland Road near LSU, Bluebonnet Boulevard, and South Quad Drive. Officials say Highland will be tackled first due to heavy traffic and poor conditions, urging drivers to be patient while they prioritize long-term safety and smoother daily commutes.
   

3. I-TEAM: Family demands justice one year after Broadmoor High student's murder (wafb.com) — A year after Broadmoor High senior Kyle Earthly Jr. was killed in Baton Rouge, his family is still pressing the East Baton Rouge justice system for a full trial and no plea deals. The accused shooter, Jeremiah Howze, is jailed in East Baton Rouge Parish Prison on a higher bond after GPS violations led to his earlier release being revoked, with key court decisions expected in February.
   

4. Baton Rouge youth earn bikes through workforce training in holiday partnership (louisianafirstnews.com) — Baton Rouge youth in the Gardere community just earned brand-new bikes by completing a two-day training on bike maintenance, safety, and responsibility, backed by Metro Council District 3 and local partners. The Front Yard Bikes-led program aims to build workforce skills, confidence, and safer riding on Baton Rouge streets, with the bikes also slated for the annual Gardere community ride.
   

5. Baton Rouge UPS driver delivers hopes and dreams in the form of swimming lessons (nola.com) — A Baton Rouge-based UPS driver known as “Big Brown” is turning his delivery route into a lifeline, from installing free air conditioners for seniors to funding swim lessons for kids. Through his Big Brown Cares and Swimming for Jayla foundations, he’s helped tens of thousands of Louisiana children access free swimming lessons, partnering with BREC, YMCA, and local rec centers.
