U.S. News & World Report recognizes St. Tammany Health System for maternity care (an17.com) — St. Tammany Health System’s New Family Center in Covington has been named to U.S. News & World Report’s 2026 Best Hospitals for Maternity Care list, the only hospital in St. Tammany Parish to earn the honor. The recognition, along with a new Maternity Care Access designation and prior Birth Ready+ status, confirms Covington as a leading Northshore destination for safe, family-centered births. 
2. Sheriff: Courthouse security to end Jan. 5 over funding dispute (fox8live.com) — Security screening at the Covington courthouse could end Jan. 5 after Sheriff Randy Smith said his office can’t afford to keep deputies at the entrance without more parish funding. Parish leaders and the sheriff are locked in a budget dispute, with lawsuits and rejected tax proposals complicating efforts to maintain courthouse and jail security.
3. The Top 50 Women Leaders of New Orleans for 2025 (thewomenweadmire.com) — A New Orleans–focused list of top women leaders includes Dr. Lisa Casey, program director at St. Tammany Health System in Covington, which is highlighted as a nonprofit regional medical center offering comprehensive services from cardiology to pediatrics. The piece mainly celebrates influential women shaping New Orleans’ healthcare, education, business, and philanthropy sectors, while briefly underscoring Covington’s key role in regional medical care.
4. Family Loses House and Pets in Recent House Fire (bogalusadailynews.com) — Three pets badly burned in a Bogalusa house fire are now receiving specialized treatment at Resurge Veterinary Surgical Specialists in Covington, including pain management and hyperbaric oxygen therapy.
