• The Breakdown: New refinery planned for St. James Parish could create hundreds of jobs in 2028 (wwltv.com) — A proposed $850 million ElementUSA refinery in Gramercy could bring about 200 high-paying jobs and hundreds more indirect positions to St. James Parish by 2028. The project would reprocess bauxite waste from the existing aluminum plant to extract critical minerals, but it also raises fresh environmental concerns in an already heavily industrialized stretch of “Cancer Alley.”
