1. Another Jefferson Parish teacher arrested, accused of inappropriate behavior with student (nola.com) — A Jefferson Parish teacher who worked at T.H. Harris Middle School in Metairie has been arrested on allegations of inappropriate contact with a 13-year-old student, and is no longer employed by the district. Authorities say the student reported the behavior to a staff member, prompting a sheriff’s investigation and the teacher’s surrender. Another Jefferson Parish teacher was arrested on similar charges earlier this month.
   

2. Southeast Louisiana park, wildlife impacted by drought (wdsu.com) — Lafreniere Park in Metairie is suffering from ongoing drought, with dried-up swamp areas, nonfunctioning fountains, and stressed or dying trees across its 100-plus acres. Park leaders say wildlife is relocating as water levels drop, but forecast models suggest some regional drought relief ahead. Residents will be able to volunteer this spring to help restore the park’s natural beauty.
   

3. Jefferson Parish Man Guilty of Firearm and Narcotics Violations (einpresswire.com) — A Metairie resident has pleaded guilty in federal court to marijuana distribution and illegal firearm possession after a high-speed chase through Metairie ended in a crash and arrest. Prosecutors say deputies later found two guns and packaged marijuana in his vehicle. Sentencing is scheduled in New Orleans federal court in February 2026.
   

4. Lt. Governor comments on Metairie man targeted by Border Patrol (fox8live.com) — A Metairie resident going through the green card process says masked Border Patrol agents twice came to his Metairie home as part of Operation Catahoula Crunch, leaving him fearing arrest despite his work permit and pending case. Lt. Gov. Billy Nungesser is publicly questioning why such immigrants are being targeted and warning that the operation is spreading panic and worker shortages across the New Orleans-area hospitality industry.
   

5. Community groups gather goods for migrant families fearful of Operation Catahoula Crunch (fox8live.com) — In Metairie, Telemundo 42 staff and local businesses are delivering donated food and essentials to immigrant families too afraid of Operation Catahoula Crunch to leave home. Churches, civic groups, and small businesses are also organizing drives and hot meals across the metro area. Advocates are highlighting immigrants’ long-standing contributions while trying to ensure fearful families don’t go hungry.
