Harris Middle School in Metairie has been arrested on allegations of inappropriate contact with a 13-year-old student, and is no longer employed by the district. Authorities say the student reported the behavior to a staff member, prompting a sheriff’s investigation and the teacher’s surrender. Another Jefferson Parish teacher was arrested on similar charges earlier this month.

Southeast Louisiana park, wildlife impacted by drought (wdsu.com) β€” Lafreniere Park in Metairie is suffering from ongoing drought, with dried-up swamp areas, nonfunctioning fountains, and stressed or dying trees across its 100-plus acres.
