Healthy Blue Louisiana Partners With Comfort Cases

Bringing Essentials and Encouragement: Volunteers Pack Bags to Support Children Entering Foster Care

Hundreds of backpacks and duffel bags filled with essential supplies were packed and distributed at a heartwarming event hosted by Healthy Blue Louisiana and Comfort Cases. The “Packing Party,” held on Wednesday at Healthy Blue Louisiana’s offices in Metairie, brought together volunteers, community leaders, and foster care advocates to support children in the Louisiana foster care system.
The event underscored the pressing needs of foster youth across the state.

According to Comfort Cases, more than 6,000 children are currently in the state’s foster care system, with hundreds entering each month. Many arrive with few personal belongings in unsuitable containers like trash bags. Wednesday’s event sought to change that by providing 650 backpacks and duffel bags filled with blankets, pajamas, books, and hygiene kits.

The event drew an enthusiastic crowd of volunteers, including local leaders, business representatives, and community members eager to make an impact. Attendees worked together to fill each bag with care, ensuring that every child who received one knew they were supported.
