• Musicians' Village renters could see sharp increase after Habitat for Humanity sale (wwltv.com) — New Orleans Habitat for Humanity is under fire after selling eight Musicians’ Village rental homes to a Metairie landlord, a move that could raise rents from about $300 to over $1,000 as soon as January. The Housing Authority of New Orleans says it’s working with Habitat, the new owner, and tenants to prevent displacement, especially for elderly and vulnerable culture bearers. City leaders are demanding explanations for the sale and its impact on affordability.

• Marchers protest immigration sweep in Gonzales (weeklycitizen.com) — Immigration sweeps that reportedly began in the New Orleans area are sparking visible backlash, including a weekend protest march in Gonzales against the “Catahoula Crunch” operation. Demonstrators say Border Patrol agents are racially profiling Hispanic residents and targeting Latin-owned businesses, and they’re urging neighbors—citizens and noncitizens alike—to push back against fear in their communities.
