LSU Fraternity Alumni Nonprofit Offering $150,000 in Scholarships

Louisiana State University students in financial need can apply for scholarships from the Star & Crescent Foundation of Louisiana

Louisiana State University students in financial need can apply for scholarships from the Star & Crescent Foundation of Louisiana, which will award $150,000 in grants this fall to incoming undergraduate and graduate students. Eligible students may apply online at www.scfla.org by the deadline of Nov. 11, 2022. Scholarship applicants do not need to be a member of Kappa Sigma fraternity to qualify.

The scholarships are open to both full-time and part-time students who are registered and enrolled, or will be enrolled in any undergraduate, graduate or professional programs offered by Louisiana State University in spring 2023. The primary determining factors for awarding the scholarships are academic excellence, extra curricular activities, leadership, and financial need.

Established by alumni of LSU’s Gamma Chapter of Kappa Sigma Fraternity in 2013, the Star & Crescent Foundation builds upon the fraternity’s core values of fellowship, leadership, scholarship and service.

“Each year, we invest in students of all backgrounds who demonstrate a commitment to our core values,” said Jason Doré, president of the Star & Crescent Foundation. “These scholarships allow us to reward students who excel in the classroom, lead on campus and make serving their community a top priority. It’s an honor to continue our dedication to supporting excellence within the LSU education system.”

Since 2013, the foundation has awarded over $650,000 in scholarship funds to over 500 students in financial need. Winners of the 2022 scholarship awards will be announced in December.
