Driven by passion for food and creating memorable student experiences, the Tulane Dining team at Tulane University has an ongoing action-packed schedule of events.
“Our Bagel and Lox Takeover was on February 9, starting at 7 a.m., which was a first because we don’t normally do takeovers in the morning,” said Marketing Coordinator Raven West. “We partnered with our local bakery Flour Moon Bagels and served nearly 500 bagels with a selection of cream cheese and toppings.
Executive Chef Jon Petrie made in-house cream cheese for the event.

During the week of February 13, Halal Shack was featured all week at McAlister from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. On Valentines Day, Dunkin’ Donuts hosted Lots of Love in the LBC Food Court from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. The next day, Waffle Wednesday was held in Malkin Sacks Commons.
Thursday featured a Chef Swap with neighboring Loyola University Dining. Chef Kraig Dixon came from Loyola and created shrimp creole at Chef’s Table for Tulane students. Tulane sent Chef Greg Shields to Loyola who made his seafood mac and cheese with shrimp and crawfish for Loyola students.

Friday featured the return of Tulane Dining’s Farmers Market from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and a Mardi Gras Brunch in Malkin Sacks Commons from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
A “Taste of Soul” Brunch took place on February 28 at 11 a.m. in the Malkin Sacks Commons to honor Black History Month.
“We partnered with the Black Student Union and Loyola University and featured a local black-owned coffee company and bookstore, Baldwin and Co.,” said West.
Wednesday, March 1 was Artisanal Cheese Day at Chef’s Table from 11 p.m. to 2 p.m. and Steak Night on Simplified” was held Thursday, Mar. 2 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.
The week ended on Friday, March 3 with another Farmers Market on the corner of Freret Street and McAlister Street from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Fair Food Truck Takeover serving funnel cake and crawfish nachos rolled up next to McAlister Hall 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., available to students through Friday, March 17.
National Meatball Day was celebrated on Thursday, Mar. 9 at The Dining Room at Malkin Sacks Commons from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. with homemade meatballs prepared by Tulane Dining chefs.
On Saturday, March 11, Tulane Dining served up food, fun, and glamorous performance during its annual Drag Brunch featuring mocktails and musical acts by popular New Orleans drag queens Debbie with a D, AYAA, Laveau Contraire, Cucci Licci, and special guest MC Poppy Tooker.
“It’s a fast-moving pace for our Tulane Dining team, but we love it,” said West. “We are completely dedicated to providing an exciting and unforgettable dining experience for students.”
