A Maine non-profit executive's compelling story helping low-income families went national on Fox News.
Penquis CEO Kara Hay discussed her efforts to help Maine people wrestle with energy costs heading into winter months.

Hay was interviewed by Fox host Sandra Smith.
"We continue to hear a lot of concern about increased heating costs," Hay told Smith in her second appearance on Fox.

She said that due to the skyrocketing costs of fuel, government-heating assistance barely scrapes the surface in terms of helping the poor maintain a warm home during Maine's cold winter.
"People are scared," Hay added. "They're very worried."
Penquis is a nonprofit organization incorporated in 1967 "to alleviate and eliminate the causes and conditions of poverty," according to its website.
"Throughits programs and subsidiaries, Penquis impacts all of Maine’s sixteen counties, but primarily serves low- and moderate-income individuals in Penobscot, Piscataquis and Knox counties.
"Our mission is to assist individuals and families in preventing, reducing, or eliminating poverty in their lives and, through partnerships, to engage the community in addressing economic and social needs."
